Slice Modifier in Autodesk 3Ds Max

Slice modifier in Autodesk 3Ds Max is a very unique and small modifier. It helps the user in numerous ways like inserting segments, splitting the mesh and most uniquely it can hide the meshes of the either side of its gizmo plane. Slice modifier works on any kind of geometry.

First you select the object and then from the modifier list select slice modifier and apply it. Immediately you will not see any effect on the object as by default the slice gizmo come at the bottom of the object (though it depends on your pivot point). Using the options of the modifier you can see significant changes. The first option is "Refine Mesh" , this option let you insert segments according the position of the gizmo. Next option is "Split Mesh", which help us to split the mesh by elements.

The next two options are the most important and useful in this modifier. These are "Remove top" and "Remove bottom" . These two option let you hide and show the desired parts of the models according to the position of the gizmo. You can also animate and let the audience see your model is revealing slowly. You can use this modifier with cap holes modifier also to fill up the open area of the model. For more details like how to use this modifier multiple times please go through the video below.
