Path Deform Modifier in Autodesk 3Ds Max

Welcome to yet another new tutorial in 3Ds Max. In this tutorial we are going to learn about a very interesting and useful modifier in 3Ds Max , Path Deform. Path Deform is very useful for creating coiled telephone wires in no time though you can use this deformer at any other use where you need to move your object along a path you already created.

For this tutorial I have created one Helix and a path to demonstrate the modifier. My target is to move my helix according to my path.

Now while creating the Path Deform modifier you will see there are two kind of Path Deform modifier are there in the list. One is Object space another one is World space we will discuss both of them in our tutorial. First we will go with the World space modifier. after applying the modifier by selecting object/geometry , which is , in this case the helix you will have the parameters of the modifier.

Now we just have to click on the "pick path" option and select the path we desired or which we have already created in our 3Ds Max scene. After attached with the path you can manipulate the important parameters of the modifier like Parecnt : to move aling the path, or stretch : for stretching the geometry along the path. You can have detailed understanding about this modifier by the video tutorial we provided below.
