Aim Constrain Autodesk Maya



Aim Constrain is a very important tool for the Character rigging. Aim Constrain in Autodesk Maya can be found in "Constrain" menu when you are in Animation Category.

For Creating the Constrain leave the basic settings for the constrain to default one. We can use the options after we apply the constrain, from the attribute editor. Here is the default options for aim constrain In Autodesk Maya.

Before you apply the constrain you need to remember the selection order of the would be parent and child objects. Unlikely other software for Aim Constrain in Autodesk Maya you have to first select the Parent object and then the Child object and hit the add or apply button in Aim constrain.


 Aim constrain control the rotation value of the controlled object / child object and lock the property. You can see the channelbox of the constrained object . The channelbox will look like this:

You can also see the Constrain node has already been added in the shape node option. Now you can edit the constrain from the attribute editor to control the constrain object.
